Dexter Simpkins is a loving father, son and husband to his wife of 18 years. He's a hardworking man who leads his family with love, generosity and kindness. Dexter and Tabitha have 4 of the sweetest children, Rebecca (21), Trinity (18), Trystan (10) and Tatiana (8).
Dexter has worked hard over the last 20 years faithfully providing for his family. His background is in Intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring. Spine surgery can be unpredictable and potentially dangerous because it can involve areas near nerves and the spinal cord. During spinal surgery, there is a risk that damage to the nervous system can occur. The nervous system can be monitored during spine surgery to make it safer. It is important for surgeons to be able to have someone experienced to monitor nerve tissue while doing the operation. This is Dexter's specialty and he has established a career in this field. He has suffered a brain bleed which has rendered him in a coma. They are slowly trying to bring him out of sedation so that they can evaluate any damage. At his time, it is unknown whether Dexter will recover from his condition.
What we do know is that it is going to be a long, arduous recovery. Dexter is the sole provider for the Simpkins family. With Dexter in the hospital his family is left with no income to provide for they're families needs. The assistance donated here with help cover medical care for Dexter and the necessities for his wife and children. What will likely be the greatest cost with be the ongoing medical care Dexter will need to recover from this injury.
