Support the Sissons Through a Cancer Diagnosis
Donation protected
On January 28, 2024, a CT scan to check a hematoma from a torn abdominal muscle revealed a cancerous mass on Nathan’s right kidney. Kidney cancer is among the top 10 most common cancers, according to the American Cancer Society. Kidney cancer is often found by chance during imaging tests for an unrelated illness or symptom. As was the case for Nate, these types of kidney cancer usually are not causing pain or other symptoms when they are found. It’s the beginning of a long road with still quite a few unanswered questions, but Nate is in very capable hands with his care team based at The Hospital of Central Connecticut.
However, the Sissons now face many unplanned expenses. Nate and Jordan will need to take time off work to support Nate’s initial surgery, recovery, and subsequent treatment while attempting to maintain a sense of normalcy and routine for their 5-year-old and 1-year-old daughters. All donations received will go directly toward medical expenses not covered by insurance, the family’s daily expenses (groceries, gas, etc.), and child care for when family is not available, in addition to therapy for Jordan, Nate, and Amelia to process and adjust to this momentous life change.
The Sisson family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of support that has come in the wake of this unexpected diagnosis.
