Support the Smiths in devastating time

Mrs. Tammy Smith, a vital presence in the K-1 classroom and an unwavering "fourth pillar" of support for the youngest learners, has touched countless lives with her dedication and compassion. Beyond her work in the classroom, she has also been a guiding light for many students in the Homework Club, offering them extra support, encouragement, and care to thrive academically and personally. She is also my daughter Rhea’s teacher, making her contributions to our lives even more personal and impactful.

Mr. William Smith, who has been a critical addition to Sierra Madre Elementary over the past two years, has equally made a meaningful impact on our school community. Together, the Smiths are not only dear family friends to us but also cherished figures in the PUSD family.

I am incredibly fortunate that my house in Sierra Madre was spared from the fire, and it’s deeply important to me to help those who were not as lucky. The Smiths' house has damaged roof and garage. Their daughter Alicia's house is 100% burnt down (see picture above).

The Smiths now face the immense challenge of making their home livable so they can not only get back on their feet but also provide shelter and support to their family members who have lost everything. The fund will be used to clean up the yard/garage/roof, extra cost of repair that IS NOT covered by FEMA or insurance, and purchase whatever necessary to house their family members.

Let’s come together to ensure the Smiths have the resources they need to make their home a home again and continue being the anchors they are for their loved ones and the PUSD community. Every act of support will go a long way in helping them recover from this tragedy.
