Support The Smiths: Remembering Emerson

"No matter where life takes us, you will always be my first friend.”
On Saturday, February 1st, my brother, Decarlious Emerson Smith, was taken from us too soon, slain by a bullet, shot point-blank during the early morning hours. Amidst an ongoing investigation, and funeral preparations, I hope to help my parents along their healing journey.
This unexpected devastation has knocked the wind out of us. As their first-born, my father’s namesake, and only son, Emerson walked to the beat of his own drum—and even though the paths he chose to take were often windy, he stayed grounded in his hunger for the hustle; to build a better life for himself and those around him.
I have set a lofty goal of $10,000 to offset sudden funeral costs, tend to the needs of his fur-baby, Buddy—an active pit-pup who misses his most favorite companion—and fuel the resources that will be used to bring this criminal to justice.
My family’s pretty private. We rely on the strength of each other to get through difficult times, but I know the power of community.
No amount is too small, and there's certainly no amount too big.
Sleep easy, Em. I’ve got Mom and Dad.
