Support the Sosa Family After Our Unexpected Loss
Donation protected
Dear family, friends and community,
My name is Selise and I am asking for support to help bury and say goodbye to my loving brother Maximiliano Sosa Jr. who was shot and killed by the Fresno Police Department on November 4th.
For those who didn’t have the pleasure of knowing Max, above all else, his proudest achievement was being a devoted father to his two sons aged 2 and 4. Right out of high school Max got his degree and began a career as a diesel mechanic. Just last month, he was so proud to have finally paid off his student loans, which is a big milestone for a first generation student. Max had worked in the diesel industry for 13 years and recently moved into an administrator role, where he was known for being funny, hardworking, and a dedicated teammate. Max was a leader in our family and in our community and so many loved ones will be grieving this tremendous loss.
We are working with legal counsel to ensure there is a full and fair investigation as to why his life was cut short. Despite what was deliberately and incorrectly portrayed in the media by the police, Max had no history of mental health problems or a police record of any kind. Max was caring, responsible, humble and everyone he met was a friend -- he absolutely didn’t deserve this ending.
I’m asking for support on behalf of Martha (Max’s mom) and Maximiliano Sosa Sr (Max’s dad). We are devastated by this unanticipated loss and not prepared to bury and say goodbye to Max on such short notice. These donations will help us cover some of the burial costs and a family memorial service, which need to be paid for by this weekend so that his services can take place on 11/21-22. Remaining funds will be shared with Max’s mom and sister who have had to unexpectedly travel from out of state, be away from home since Max’s death and will have missed several weeks of work.
My mother, father and siblings deeply appreciate any support you are able to share with our family as we say goodbye to our sweet Max. Please hold a light for our family and his two sons, Lucas and Maximiliano III, as we navigate this devastating loss. We are also asking for privacy during this difficult time and we will be in touch around any additional ways to support our family as we seek justice for Max’s life and legacy.
