Support the Stones: Damian fights cancer AGAIN!

Could you kindly lend your support to one of our cherished local Moggill families. The wonderful Stone family are currently facing a challenging circumstance.

Damian, his wife Kylee and their 2 girls emigrated to Australia from the UK in 2018. This year, in May they became permanent residents.

In 2012, while still in the UK, with 2 young babies, Damian was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and spent 2.5 years having intensive treatment to fight this dreadful disease. Damian received the all clear in 2017.

However, devastatingly on his birthday, last week, Damian received the heart-breaking news of a second Leukaemia diagnosis.

For those familiar with Damian, or Damo as many of his friends know him, his kindness and authenticity are unparalleled, making this situation particularly unfair. As a family, Kylee, Damo and the girls are grappling with fear over his treatment, its outcomes, and the potential long-term effects. The financial strain adds another layer of stress, with a lengthy treatment path they’ve navigated once before however this time, in a different country and without much-needed family support.

Damian's inability to work for many months, likely longer, coupled with Kylee’s compromised work hours due to the care for Damian and the girls, daily hospital visits, intensifies their concerns. Compounded by recent visa status challenges and the unavailability of cancer-related income protection due to his past diagnosis, this wonderful family find themselves under immense financial stress.

While there is a plan to take necessary proactive steps, including selling one of their cars and working more hours as needed, it is impossible for Kylee to be everywhere at once. Kylee’s primary goal is to alleviate the family's financial worries so Damian can approach his demanding treatment schedule with strength and one less worry.

Kylee and Damian are proud people who work hard and who value family and community. Damian works as a carpenter for a wonderful company but with the treatment, he will be unable to work. Both Kylee and Damo volunteer their time coaching and managing at their local football club, Moggill FC and who along with their girls are well integrated in our local area.

Damian and Kylee have been deeply touched by the outpouring of kind messages and numerous suggestions to set up this Go Fund Me page from those who want to help and as their friends here in Australia we are happy to make this happen.
