Support the TED John Hirbour Memorial College Fund
After a four-year battle with stage four cancer, our colleague and friend John Hirbour passed away on May 12, 2024.
John was a seven year veteran of the TED Tech team. He was one of the funniest, nicest and most engaging people you could hope to meet. He did amazing work to advance TED’s technology and mission. He loved making music, woodworking, hanging out on his tractor, Star Trek, and he was a great dad.
John believed in the power of education, and expressed that belief in part by his work at TED. If you have been touched by TED’s mission, then you have experienced John’s work, which was to keep the engine which powers TED running smoothly. John was tremendously talented, and his work helped enrich the lives of countless people who experienced that work every day.
John is survived by his wife Heather and his son Elias. To honor John's memory we are establishing this memorial college fund for his son, Elias, to ensure that his educational journey is secured.
We invite you, as part of our extended community and anyone who has been touched by John’s life, to contribute to this fund.
Please join us in making a difference for the Hirbour family during this profoundly difficult time. Your support means everything.
