“A great place if you like shitty punk bands and long lines for the bathroom”. Most venues would try and bury a review like this, Three Links had it printed on T Shirts. That pretty much sums up the entire vibe of the place, affectionately known to regulars as HQ (Headquarters). And while it has become ground zero for the Dallas punk scene, the musical menu is far more eclectic than that. Mondays are traditionally turned over to the Funky Knuckles, a loose association of soul, jazz and funk players. And #3Links2sdays are for Colab and Friday's Foolery's mix of funk, rap, R&B, and hip hop. Three Links is a place where young musicians come to get their start, and come back to play again before a packed room. This is a stage that has hosted everything from music to burlesque to spelling bees, drag shows and costume contests. And it might not even be the best part of the Three Links experience. Out the back door is one of the best porches in Deep Ellum. So good that the four picnic tables have actually been ranked in the local media. It’s a shame to close a place like this, but it would be an all-out crime to lose it entirely. We all understand the importance of stopping the spread of the corona virus. Places like Three Links are what define us as a community. If we lose them, we lose part of ourselves. If you have the ability to help them get through these hard times, please make a small donation. Three Links is unique. It’s special. It’s headquarters.
