Joshua’s Journey to Recovery
Donation protected
On July 1st, twelve-year old Joshua was involved in a major accident in Montego Bay, Jamaica, during a family vacation. As he was swimming away from the waterslide, a large adult collided into him. Joshua was left unconscious by the collision and sank to the bottom of the pool. Three hospitals and two medical airlifts later, all during Hurricane Beryl, Joshua and his family have escaped the weather and returned safely to the United States. As of July 3, Joshua remains sedated and is receiving treatment at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital PICU near Miami, Florida. Doctors are working towards the best plan of treatment for his traumatic brain and correlated injuries.
Each day has provided new updates and changes to the family, and Joshua’s medical team continues to gather more information. While the extent of many of his injuries remains undetermined, the Vaisman family remains very hopeful that Joshua’s health will continue to improve each day. The Vaisman family extend their overwhelming gratitude for all of the prayers, well wishes, and support.
We are asking the community to please consider supporting the Vaisman family with the financial demands they are facing with housing, food, transportation, and day-to-day living expenses, as they will need to stay in Miami for an undetermined amount of time to allow Joshua to recover.
Joshua, his Mom JoAnn, his Dad Ron, and his brother Julian all face a long journey towards recovery, but together, we can help lighten some of the burdens they are all currently facing. Thank you for your generosity and support to the Vaisman family and Joshua’s Journey!
