Support the Valentines through the unimaginable…

MemoriesLet’s support Mike and Karen Valentine through the loss of their son, Levi Valentine. Levi died from a seizure on February 19, 2023. He was 16.
Levi was a warrior. His heroic journey started at birth when he and his mom, Karen, won their first fight for his life. Many, many more would follow as epilepsy wages near-constant wars. Thankfully Levi came from Mike and Karen, had Milo as a brother, and hundreds of loved ones in his corner.
That helped him take up the fight for others in the epilepsy community. It’s a terrible club to belong to, but Levi and his family made the best of it. Levi was a loving friend and supporter to fellow epilepsy warriors. For the last 16 years, Mike and Karen devoted their lives to Levi and finding cures and better treatments, organizing countless fundraisers and raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for epilepsy research and treatment. Levi was a brave fighter who managed to keep a soft, kind heart and loving, joyful presence through much more than any kid should have to bear.
When we remember Levi Valentine, we’ll remember he loved caring for horses, hanging with his friends from Camp Coehlo, spending weekend mornings at San Anselmo Coffee Roasters and hitting Marin’s trails and coastlines with his family. He loved spending time with his extended family. He was a loving friend, cousin, grandson, brother, and son.
Epilepsy took him from his family way too soon. But the Valentines are continuing the fight. Let’s join them.
Levi and his family have supported so many with their work towards a cure for epilepsy and their commitment to their dojo community and beyond. They’ve touched countless lives and have been a pillar of strength and generosity for so many. It’s our turn to show up for them.
At this devastating time, we ask for any support—monetary or simply spirit and love—for the Valentine family as they face unexpected costs and unspeakable grief. We will be setting up a signup to help with their dojo as well as a meal train too. If you’d like to help with that, please let us know, and thank you!
You can show your support by donating to memorial costs here, sharing this page, continuing the fight for an epilepsy cure, or contributing a favorite memory or story of Levi.
No gift or gesture is too small in the loving memory of this wonderful, young man. All money raised will go to the Epilepsy Foundation as restricted donations to the Valentine family, and the foundation will pay for Levi's funeral (and other expenses).
Thank you dear friends of this incredible family, we appreciate all of you.
With love,
Beth, Amy, DEBORAH, Christiana, and The Epilepsy Foundation of Northern California
