In August 2024, the Victorian caravan dealer, Tango Caravans, tragically collapsed, leaving dozens of individuals and families facing devastating financial losses. Following the liquidation of the company, it has been confirmed that none of the victims, including customers and unsecured creditors, will receive any compensation for their lost funds. This includes a total of $3.28 million owed to 70 creditors, with many families losing their hard-earned savings, of which were meant for their dream caravans and future plans.

The financial mismanagement of Tango Caravans, highlighted in a report from the liquidator, Pitcher Partners, revealed that the company owed significant amounts in unpaid wages, superannuation, and annual leave. Worse still, many manufacturers contracted by Tango to build caravans had not been paid for their services, despite customers having already made deposits or paid in full for their orders.

The real-world consequences for these victims have been devastating. These families trusted Tango with their money and their dreams, only to see their funds disappear. The emotional and financial toll has been immeasurable, leaving many in a state of crisis.
