Hello, Friends.
The Vossler-Mathews family has been through some craziness in the last month, and could use your help. (A great big thank-you-I-don't-know-what-we-could-do-without-you for the many who have already stepped in and supported them in myriad ways.)
What happened:
On January 16, Blake was admitted to the hospital with a torn esophagus. Subsequently, he underwent a procedure to have a stent placed in his esophagus and to install a PEG tube for "eating." He was in the hospital for seven days. About a week later, Blake was again admitted to the ER for an emergency pericardiocentesis to remove a life-threatening amount of fluid from around his heart. In addition, the original stent had slid out of place, so once stable, he underwent another endoscopy to have the first stent removed and a new one sutured in place.
Now:
Blake was discharged again on February 7, and from now until mid-late March will be taking nourishment only by the PEG tube feeding directly into his stomach. In the meantime, he'll see a cardiologist and a gastroenterologist, and he hopes the stent will be removed by the end of the month. He (and Krista) will also see a therapist to deal with the mental health challenges of his experience and resulting condition.
Financial help:
Any gifts received will help the Vossler-Mathews pay out-of-pocket expenses, like meeting the deductible, the anesthesia, Blake's formula, counseling/therapy, parking fees from the hospital, etc.
Other help:
Prayer--for stamina, encouragement, hope in despair, and swift healing
Rides--please text Krista with your availability and for details
Presence--please text Krista with your availability and for details
Thank you for your support, and please reach out if you have any questions!
