Support the Weems Family
Donation protected
My family moved from Fountain City, Knoxville some years ago and decided to rent our old house out. Monique Weems and her family moved in a few years ago. The bad news is we are in a situation where we are selling the house and this means she needs another residence. She and her family need help. She has tirelessly fought to find another house for herself and her 7 kids for weeks. You see, Monique is a single mother with 7 kids and on long-term medical disability. Her kids:

She didn't choose this either. She is an insurance agent but after a surprise pregnancy with the twins she got a serious medical condition. And (even after having an operation to not have kids anymore) she got pregnant again with Vesaree - another surprise (which she has received graciously and lovingly!). Yet through all this my wife Meggan and I have been surprised at her resilience and determination to get through this. Her kids are kind and worth the support.
In the midst of COVID, racism, prejudice, a husband that is not engaged, and a large family the odds are stacked against her. I have been helping her find the next house and the picture just isn't adding up anymore: She has spent quite literally, hundreds of dollars applying for places with very little heard back. She told me a story where she drove 30 minutes to see a place, be the first one to see and take interest in it, have the owner say she would MAIL her an application only to hear after calling them back up a few days later when she didn't get the application that the place had been given to someone else! Dead ends and rejection.
I personally have heard her frustration and exasperation in her search for another home. We have given a lot to this family but I have come to realize this is bigger than just me.
I want to invite you into her story as well, to be someone who supports a family who may not be as well off as you. She needs resources to get into a place that will accommodate her family. Minimally, she needs funds for a down payment for the new place and moving. Ultimately she is at the mercy of landlords - it would be great to get her funds to purchase a house with a down payment. She is moving before September
Monique has been very open about receiving help. She would be very open to any other offers of help, services or elsewise if you have connections (she is already in line for Section 8 housing - but 100s down the list of candidates).
