Kevin Wilbon passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024, due to complications from liver cancer. He was born February 11, 1965 in San Francisco, CA, and raised in Richmond, CA. He graduated from San Jose State University with a BA in Social Science and a minor in Special Education. He received his Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and Special Education credentials with a specialization in Learning Handicap, as well as a Master’s of Arts degree in Special Education from San Jose State University.
Kevin felt that his main purpose was to leave the world a better place than the one he was born into. His calling and vocation was teaching as evidenced in his tenure in Evergreen School District. Kevin dedicated his life long career as an educator culminating over 33 years of service to the Evergreen community. Kevin felt that teaching allowed him to make a change in the world by helping his students. He truly touched the lives of all that he taught and worked with in Evergreen. He tried his best to be kind to all he met and spread kindness where he could. Outside of school, he did this by donating plasma and platelets to the Stanford Blood Bank. He also enjoyed comic books, Sci-Fi and fantasy, and role playing games.
He is survived by his children Brianna, Christopher, and Joshua.
Brianna is currently a junior at San Diego State and is a double major in both History and Dance. She enjoys performing and choreographing, and would like to work professionally in dance. Christopher is a junior at USC, majoring in Law, History, and Culture. He is a captain on the USC mock trial team, and is preparing for his LSATs. He hopes to practice law and use his skills to help people with legal counsel. Joshua is a senior at Seaside High School, is captain of the swim team, and is awaiting college admissions. He is hoping to attend UCLA or CalTech. He will be majoring in astrophysics and currently interns at Monterey Institute for Research in Astronomy in Marina, working on both gravitational lenses and star spectra.
All three children have worked hard in their academics, graduating at the top of their classes, participating in sports and theatrical productions, and strive to help others and hopefully make the world a better place, just as their dad strived to do.
All funds raised will go directly to the children and help fund their college education and expenses. We greatly appreciate your kindness and support in Kevin’s name in supporting his children and their future.
