Support the Yori Family After Home Loss

Donation protected
8/10/24 update from the Yoris:
We've had so many people reach out, asking for an update, so here it is.

Since having to leave our home, we searched endlessly for somewhere to relocate into. We were unable to find anywhere to rent, anywhere in the county, so we had to change plans and transition into buying a home. The process is exhausting when you're homeless in the process.

While we navigate that plan, our Renter's Insurance has put us up in an extended stay and we are very grateful for that. I cannot explain the anxiety that comes with not being able to provide a permanent home for your children.

The first home we found, and fell in love with, we lost. It was heartbreaking but it led us to look at another home that we believe will be even better for our family in the long run! Although the house itself is smaller it has a large fenced-in yard and huge garage that will be of great benefit to us in the coming years! We put in an offer that was accepted and although we are thrilled we are still holding our breath until all is signed and official.

The appraisal and inspection is next week but, at best, we are still looking at living in the hotel another 5-7 weeks. We also have money in the bank but, as many of you know, we cannot access it because of this home buying process. It has been a strange experience to have but not have money while being homeless.

The mental, emotional, and physical toll that this has caused is indescribable but we cannot thank everyone enough (including people we don't even know personally) who have reached out, prayed for us, offered an ear to listen, provided food and childcare, and obviously all of the financial support. You never want to see yourself on the receiving end of a GoFundMe or random financial gifts sent but it has been a lifesaver.

We cannot thank our friends and family enough, especially our work families and our friends within the school district for all you have done for us thus far. We are eternally grateful.

Today and tomorrow is our last opportunity to move everything out of the house. So we are hoping to have a strong showing to help us get it done quickly and efficiently. Everything will be put in storage until we have a solid resolution.

We'd love to just be able to focus on sports and school starting for the kids but the work must be done. We know that with everyone's ongoing support and love we will make it through the upcoming days and weeks.

Please, please continue to pray and send positive thoughts that we secure this new house. We desperately need this to work out so we can put this nightmare behind us and provide our children with a home.

Also, I know I've missed messages along the way or I've delayed significantly in responding. For that I apologize but people continuing to check in with us means so much! I've been reluctant to post other means to reach us financially but I cannot fight so many of you asking so I will put those links in the comments.

If you're still reading we appreciate you so much! We are blessed with your friendship and love. ♡

-Sarah and Brad

Update: Brad and Sarah are so grateful for the outpour of support received so quickly from everyone. They are extremely overwhelmed and trying to get a game plan set. They are staying in an extended stay hotel for at least the next week to settle from all the bouncing around. The next step is to find a dumpster to toss the things they can’t take, and to find a storage unit for their things until they find a new home.

Brad, Sarah, and the Yori kids could really use the support of the community, as they just lost their home. If you know Sarah, you know how strong and independent she is and hates accepting help or “hand outs” of any kind. Brad and Sarah go out of their way in any way they can to help those in need, and I would like to help give back to them in their time of need.

On 7/15, a tree blew over during the storm and landed on the Yori family’s home in Sligo. They have been staying with a friend the past 3 nights, in hopes they would be able to return home after the damage was assessed.

The family of 5 just found out that the home is uninhabitable and they will be forced to move everything they own from the home in a few weeks. Brad, Sarah, and the kids are completely devastated over this news.

They do not have a place to stay long term to get on their feet and find a new home to rent, so they are looking at lodging in a hotel until something comes up. They have to drive from Clarion, to Sligo for childcare, then back into Clarion for work every morning and evening, on top of finding somewhere to store their things until further notice, and actually taking time off work to move their belongings. The kids are terrified that they will be uprooted to a different school if they do not find something in Union school district. The heartbreaking situation that this family is facing is nearly unfathomable. Nothing can give them their home back, but alleviating some of the financial stress is possible.

If you are unable to help financially, but know of a rental house coming available with at least 3 bedrooms, located in the Union school district, please send it to Sarah or myself. Please share this, so we can gather as much support as possible for a family who deserves it.

Sarah is currently being showered in messages from so many friends and family members who want to show support that she isn’t able to respond to everyone right away with everything that is going on, but appreciates every message.
