Fundraiser for the Zhdanov Family: A Call for Help
We are reaching out to our community to support a beloved family, the Zhdanovs, a family of four who recently moved to the U.S. Known for their zest for life, love of travel, and warm hospitality, they are also active members of our Russian Orthodox church community. Tragically, they have recently faced a horrific incident, and we need to come together to help them during this difficult time.
While traveling, the Zhdanovs had to make a night stop to rest after a long day of driving. As they parked, an unknown car with strangers approached and opened fire. The Zhdanovs had never seen or interacted with these individuals before. Thankfully, their car absorbed most of the bullets, but some penetrated the vehicle. Nina was struck twice in the leg, while their 7-year-old son Ivan suffered severe injuries to his shins.
Nina has undergone surgery, but one bullet remains lodged in her leg. Ivan's situation is critical; surgeons first had to reconstruct his blood vessels due to significant blood loss. He has since undergone several more surgeries that have saved his life. They are remaining at the hospital as of right now. Currently, doctors are working on how to reconstruct his shins, as there is insufficient tissue for proper healing. All this means that there will be more surgeries done for Ivan very soon. We are still unaware whether he will regain his walking ability.
We ask for your generosity to help the Zhdanov family cover their mounting medical bills. Additionally, they lost their vehicle in the incident and need assistance getting back to Orlando from Tennessee. This heartbreaking event occurred simply because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Unfortunately, the chances of apprehending the perpetrators are slim, as they fled the scene.
Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference. Let's come together as a community to support the Zhdanovs in their time of need.
