Hello my name is Tia Lee and I am a rising senior at the University of Louisville, pursuing a degree in Spanish with the hope of becoming an certified professional interpreter.

My junior year of high school, I developed a love for the Spanish language in my first period class. After going out into my community, I realized how much of a need there was for interpreters. With the United States having a growing immigrant population, I want to be able to help people acclimate to life in this country.

Language barriers are extremely dangerous for a person in an unfamiliar place. I believe that no one should be denied access, knowledge, education, or resources simply because they do not know English. My goal is to bridge that gap!

With that being said, I have an amazing opportunity to study abroad fall semester in Alicante, Spain! During my stay there I will be with a host family and get to know the rich culture of the country, while actively working on my fluency of the Spanish language.

I have set up this GoFundMe to ask for assistance with my flight fee. A round trip from Louisville, KY to Spain is approximately $2,000. I would love the help of my sorors, extended family, and friends to help me reach this goal.

Again, all funds will be used to pay for my flight.
