Hello everyone! I am McKenzie Keener and as many of you know my mom Tiffany Keener was diagnosed with Stage 2 Cervical Cancer on November 27, 2024. She is a very well-known name in the fire service. She is a 15 year veteran firefighter/fire police. She is also the active secretary in the Glen Campbell Volunteer Fire Company. During her time there she has been an example of selfless leadership. On November 27, 2022 she was diagnosed with chronic Crohn’s Disease. She was in Forbes Hospital in Monroeville for 6 months where she ended up getting her colon removed and loosing complete mobility. On March 12, 2022 we brought her home on home health where she had to have someone with her 24/7. She kept fighting and ended up getting better, regaining her mobility, and getting used to all the changes that came with this experience. She became active in the fire activities again and participated at the Indiana County Fire Convention in Rossiter on August 31, 2024. She tried her very best and won the Mel Benamati Spirit Award. She was doing so well until now! On November 27, 2024 she got really sick and went to the Punxsy ER where she was admitted. They ran all kinds of tests and took biopsies and found a mass one her cervix that ended up being Stage 2 Cervical Cancer. This type of cancer is caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV). After the diagnosis she came home to her family and had to start radiation therapy Monday-Friday and chemotherapy every Thursday at the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in Altoona. She has to do at least 5 weeks of each therapy maybe longer if needed. On 2/7/25 her doctor noticed that the chemotherapy she was doing wasn’t working. It was also affecting her kidneys, so they had to change her chemo the following week. Everything is working out okay so far. She was in Altoona Hospital from March 1st till March 6th trying to get her pain managed since everything being tried wasn’t even getting a grasp on it. This funding will help for our traveling expenses for all her treatments, Dr. appointments, ER visits, meals while she is getting her treatments, bills, and whatever else she might need. She has been working before all of this went down again however now she can’t work at this time. We aren't sure for how long this time around. She is limited with the fire company as well but she remains active and is still secretary. She is hoping to be back in full swing with her squad and on active duty soon. Thank you all very much. Thoughts and prayers are also always welcome.
