Help My Parents Rebuild After the Hurricane

Hi everyone,

I hope you’re doing well. I’m reaching out with an update about my parents, Tim and Deb, after the recent hurricane. While I’m incredibly grateful that they’re safe, their home wasn’t as fortunate—it was severely flooded, with several feet of water destroying nearly everything inside. Among the losses were precious family keepsakes, including family photos, and their cherished wedding album.

Thankfully, when the storm hit, my parents were away in North Dakota visiting my sister Madison and her husband Ethan. Our sweet pets—Ace, Marcy, Finnegan, and Tucker—were safely evacuated by kind neighbors. With another storm, Hurricane Milton, approaching, they’ll soon be evacuating again, this time to stay inland with my sister Danielle. We don’t know what their home will look like when they return, but I want to do everything possible to ease the burden on them.

If you know my parents, you know how deeply caring and generous they are. They’re always the first to lend a helping hand, offer their home, or share whatever they can with friends and neighbors. Now, it’s our turn to support them. They’ve been working so hard to clean up and start repairs, but the task ahead is overwhelming. They didn’t ask me to create this fundraiser—in fact, they don’t even know I’m doing it—but I’ve been thinking about how we can come together to help, especially with the costs of meals and basic essentials while they focus on getting their home back in shape.

I live and work full-time in Austin, and due to rising airfare costs, I haven’t been able to be there in person to assist with the cleanup. That’s why I’m hoping to raise some funds to take a little weight off their shoulders. Any amount you can contribute would mean the world to them, and to me as well. I’ll be handling the donations, so feel free to reach out if you have any questions or would like to help in other ways. And if you can’t give financially please feel free to share this post and your kind words and support are just as meaningful.

One final request: If anyone happens to have photos from my parents’ wedding, I’d love to surprise them by recreating their wedding album as a special gift.
