Support Tina's Heroic Cancer Journey

In 2018, our mom, Tina Reichart, was rushed to the ER for pain in her torso, thinking she had a broken rib. After some x-rays and an evaluation, it was discovered she had Stage 4 Renal Cell Carcinoma (Kidney Cancer). This was a shock to all of us as she had been very healthy, active, and had routine doctor appointments up until this point. At the time of discovery, it had already metastasized to her bones. The summer of 2018 was very rough as she went from being 100% independent to needing assistance with ADLs (activity in her daily living), mobility, etc. in a matter of days.
She received two opinions from oncologists and started on a treatment plan soon after. She has fought every step of the way to have a life close to what it was before the diagnosis, overcoming many challenges that the cancer presented. Treatments have not been easy, as it has required numerous changes to the treatment plan along the way as the cancer would find a way around the treatment and medications. With the changes to the treatment plans and dealing with multiple side effects, Mom remained determined to fight.
Over the last 4.5 years, she continued to be an Awana Leader at Vineyard Church, attended most all of her Grandson’s (Jackson and Brigston) ball games & school programs, continuing her many hobbies, enjoying our yearly family vacation in Branson, and meeting her new Granddaughter, Delaney.
Unfortunately, the last few months have become more challenging as the cancer got smarter, harder, and downright mean. Her pain has increased with continued progression occurring and nothing has been able to relieve the symptoms. On January 10th she was admitted to the hospital after lab work gave cause for concern. Further tests showed that her kidneys were backing up and it was emergent we find out what was going on. After one failed procedure due to cancer growth, they were able to do a Percutaneous Nephrostomy (PCN) procedure. These tubes are indefinite to ensure the kidneys can drain as the ureters that lead to the bladder are blocked.
Since coming home after the procedure, she was admitted to the hospital again for a blood transfusion, but has since further declined. Her appetite and energy have been diminishing, struggling to remain awake most days and the pain remains. Though we remain optimistic and hold dear to our faith, the stress and worry of what might come weighs greatly on our hearts and our minds.
Our family, especially our parents, are not ones to reach out and ask for help. However, this is one of those times where we need to ask for a helping hand. Over the years, the treatments, medications, hospital stays, deductibles and uncovered expenses have built up. On top of this, Mom is no longer able to work. Cancer is devastating in every way possible. It is physically, emotionally, and financially depleting and no matter how ready you think you are for an emergency, cancer is much more than an emergency.
First and foremost, we ask everyone for their prayers. We would also like everyone to share our mom’s story, asking them to keep her in their prayers as well. We firmly believe that if it wasn’t for prayers and the mercy and goodness of God, we would not be where we are today. If you are able and would like to donate financially, any amount is appreciated more than you will ever know. Your donations will help ease the stress associated with the staggering costs that come from fighting this disease.
Our mom is our rock and greatest supporter in life. She has always been a fighter, showing her strength every day, but even a superhero like her needs help once in a while.
Thank you and May God Bless you and your family,
