Support Tina's fight against cancer

Life can change in an instant. The Markel family has learned this lesson in a very real way. On February 25th Tina experienced a grand mal seizure during her daughters cheerleading competition in Red Deer, Alberta. Tina was transported by ambulance where she spent the next three days in the hospital awaiting an MRI to determine what caused the seizure. On February 28th, which happened to be her 35th birthday Tina was informed doctors had discovered a mass in her brain, which through biopsy, was later diagnosed a cancerous tumour.
Prior to February 25th, Tina was a full time social work student at Mount Royal and weeks away from graduating. Tina was also mid way through completing her practicum, a counsellor at a local shelter, and the mother to five very busy children. Tina was forced to drop her classes, postpone graduating, take a leave from work, and rely on family and friends to care for herself and her family.
Tina has recently begun treatment and is meeting this challenge with courage and strength that is truly inspiring. Tina has already received a great deal of support from those in the community to which she is extremely grateful. Now that it is clear the road to recovery may be long for the Markel family and her short term disibilty is done we are hoping to gather continued support to ensure finances is one thing they do not need to worry about for now. Again we appreciate so many people have already assisted the family in so many great ways.
Thankyou
