Support Tino's medical care

Hello friends and followers of @rooandcrew, and as Tino would say, greetings.

If you are here, then you have heard the terrible news of Tino’s assault and hospitalisation. Many people have been asking how they can help, so with his family’s blessing I am setting up this fundraiser for his medical treatment.

We do not yet know what the total costs will be, but they are sure to be high. It would be wonderful if you are able to spare some money to send to his family. If not, please still send him your best wishes through his IG account for his family to pass on.

The assault

On Saturday 30th November at around 9am, Tino was attacked and robbed by two unknown men at the town centre not far from his home. He was able to fight them off enough to escape, but the incident left him in the intensive care unit with bleeding on the brain.

He has been responding to medication and treatment, and thankfully a repeat scan has indicated there is no longer bleeding on the brain. However, he still has injuries and medical issues from the assault and requires careful monitoring in hospital.

The aftermath

Tino’s family are of course devastated. Many of his friends and followers have messaged to express their shock and sadness. This is made harder as most of his supporters, including me, live very far away and are limited in how we can help.

Tino’s sister Winnie has taken control of his IG account @rooandcrew – you would have seen her announcements. Even through her distress she has been very kindly keeping us informed over the last few days. It seems that kindness runs in the family.

The fundraiser

We do not know exactly what the cost of Tino’s medical care will be, but we do know that any contributions will be very welcome. After looking at the costs of ambulance, scans, medication and hospital stay, we have started with an estimate of AU$6,000, which is about US$3,850.

I normally send the money to Tino for collection but this time I will be sending it to his parents under the direction of his sister Winnie.

I can’t think to say anything else other than may this lovely, kind and wonderful man pull through this and come back to us all.
