7/2/24- He has continued to progress in the right direction, he did go into surgery today to repair is right shoulder. Currently in surgery and we suspect it will come out just fine. Please continue to share, as his rehab journey is going to be inpatient and very extensive.
BREATHING TUBE HAS BEEN TAKEN OUT! (watching close but he's doing great)
Now the real work begins, he's in for a long haul of a recovery to get back to himself!
6/27/24- Today they have the vent on the lowest setting it will go, so that means right now he is BREATHING ON HIS OWN!
MRI result's came back as expected in regards to the shearing. He was started on a new medication to help treat those findings.
6/26/24- waiting on MRI results
Update 6/25/24- TJ is still in SNICU. After this morning's update with his team of doctors and nurses he will be getting an MRI this afternoon or evening.
Update 6/24/24- another CT scan was done, brain bleeds are stable, but they did discover a CSF (cerebral spinal fluid) leak, which is draining from his ear. They are thinking that due to trauma and impact the cerebral sack was damaged. He has been on antibiotics before finding this, which is a plus but now we have to watch for any signs of infection that could potentially cause sepsis. Close eyes will be on him.
Some know him as Tj, Tom, Tweeter or Troy. But we know him as a strong, caring, grateful, full of life and a one hell of a brother, son and friend!
As you may have heard by now, TJ was in a horrible 4-wheeler accident Saturday June 22nd, 2024. He is currently at the University of Iowa and has gone through one, 8-and-a-half-hour surgery on his face due to broken facial bones, nose and his ear being detached during the impact of the accident. Thankfully his ear was holding on by little skin and tissue, which saved it.
During the surgery they found other bone fragments within the area they removed or attempted to attach to its rightful location. He also has a fractured clavicle bone and a T12-L1 spinal compression fracture. Along with all of this he does have a few brain bleeds, right now they are stable.
This was a freak accident and the risk of not wearing a helmet. Our mom Annie and myself, Danielle have been here since he landed in the helicopter Saturday. As of this moment we are working with Medicaid to get him insurance to assist with the basic medical cost. But due to the severity of the situation now at hand. He has a long-ish road ahead of him. I say long-ish because if you know TJ he will make sure he's not down for long, but long enough to recover to his full self again.
During this time, we want to make sure he is well cared for. Aside from what insurance will pay for (like i said we are still working on this part) We need to make sure his bills/rent, medicine or whatever else comes up when he's on the road to recovery is taken care of and from, what we have been told future surgery's and testing as well.
You know how he is; everyone comes before himself, his selfless heart is still with us.
We know he is going to come out strong cracking jokes and making everyone laugh.
