Support Tom Meismer

Tom Meismer was diagnosed with a brain tumor and had surgery on 1/24/2023. The surgeon was able to remove about 98% of it and we are very thankful for that. The surgeon estimated the tumor was the size of an orange which is very large for a brain tumor. Tom will need some speech and other therapies as he recovers and he will need to undergo chemotherapy and/or radiation to kill the rest of the tumor and hopefully prevent any reoccurrence. He is just at the beginning of a long journey. Tom is only 30 years old and his young age will help him recover but he will have many challenges ahead. Tom will be coming home on 1/28/2023.
Tom is the "breadwinner" of his family and his wife, Kendra, stays at home with their 2-year-old son, Theo. Tom and Kendra are also expecting another child in June! They have good family support but there will be (and already are) many expenses to cover. In addition to some very high medical expenses, they have a mortgage (of course), student loans, auto loans, and other household expenses. They will also be making trips to Champaign to follow up with the surgeon, and trips to other medical facilities for chemo/radiation and therapy appointments. Tom won't be able to drive for at least 6 months so Kendra will carry the responsibility for their trips. And of course, there will be a new baby in about 5 months to consider, with all of those expenses and concerns.
Please consider a donation for Tom's expenses as he moves forward fighting this terrible tumor and all its aftereffects. There is no thank you that will be big enough to give you. Your contribution is appreciated from the bottom of all their families' hearts.
