Support Tom Schuster's Battle Against ALS

We are reaching out to you with heavy hearts and hopeful spirits. Our good friend Tom Schuster, a Pennsylvania State Trooper for 25 years, dedicated hockey coach and club board member, cherished husband of Laura and father of Derek & Justin, has been diagnosed with advanced Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). This news has shaken his family’s world, but we know that with your support, Tom’s fight can be made a little easier.

Tom has always been a pillar of strength and dedication in our community. His 25 years of service as a state trooper are marked by unwavering commitment to protecting others. He retired a few weeks after the diagnosis. As a hockey coach, Tom has inspired countless young athletes with his passion and encouragement. While he is no longer able to coach, he continues to serve on the board as president of the USC hockey club. Now, it’s our turn to support him as he faces this formidable challenge.

ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, leading to increasing physical challenges. Tom’s condition requires specialized treatment and significant modifications to their home to ensure it meets his evolving needs. The costs associated with this are substantial, and as you can imagine, it’s an added burden during an already difficult time.

We are setting up this GoFundMe campaign to help Tom and his family manage these challenges. The funds raised will go directly towards:

- **Medical Treatments:** ALS is a costly disease to manage. The funds will help cover treatments, therapies, and any necessary medical equipment that Tom requires.

- **Home Modifications:** To ensure Tom’s comfort and safety, their home needs to be adapted with features like wheelchair accessibility, ramps, chair lifts, bathroom modifications and other necessary changes.

- **Support for the Family:** Any additional funds will provide much-needed support to his wife and boys as they navigate this journey.
