Support Tory After LA Fire Takes Everything

On January 8th 2025 at about 6 in the morning, Victoria “Tory” Franklin’s Malibu home burned to the ground leaving nothing but the brick chimney. Only 1 month before, Tory had to evacuate her home because of the Malibu Franklin fire. In December her home was spared, and in January it was burned to the ground. Tory’s house was built by her parents in 1955; she grew up there and it has been the family home of both her and her sister’s families for the past 70 years. Although every property that was lost in the horrific Palisades fire is a tragedy, Tory’s family property was inherited and she does not have the funds to pay for temporary housing as she has already been struggling to support herself and her 3 grandchildren who are raised by their single mom. Tory is a retired high school teacher, and has not been able to work due to health issues. Tory was able to grab family heirlooms and special items, but absolutely everything else is gone. Tory is a 74 year old cancer survivor and a pillar in her community, especially at her local Malibu church, St. Aidens, and the westside AA community.

My name is Jordan Solich, and I live in Santa Monica, CA. My boyfriend, Jackson, and I have organized this fundraiser to support his mother as she faces the financial challenges that will immediately arise in the days ahead. While Tory will likely receive federal disaster funds, survival tools alone are not enough. Simple daily things we take for granted—like clothes, furniture, and household and kitchen items—make a huge difference in the journey from losing everything to feeling safe and secure.

The funds raised will help replace her clothing, shoes, glasses, medications, and cover temporary living expenses, as well as assist her in navigating the insurance companies and federal agencies involved in moving forward with her life.

To streamline the process during this transition, the family has asked me to manage the GoFundMe and ensure the funds are immediately transferred to her as they are received. We have set up direct transfers through Zelle to facilitate this.
