What is the Fundraising about
The Fiji Touch Rugby Team which won Bronze in the South Pacific Games will be coming to the UK to compete in the Touch World Cup Tournament which will be held in Nottingham, from 15th to the 21st July.
About the Touch Rugby World Cup
The World Cup brings the best Touch players from around the globe to decide who is World Champion. The Fiji Touch Rugby Team officially named Touch Federation Fiji has progressively improved in every world cup. Fiji Touch Rugby will consist of approximately about 8 Teams (16 players and 4 officials per team), all competing in the world cup in the following group competitions: Mens and Womens Open, Mixed Seniors, Womens Over 35s, Mens Over 35s, 40s, 45s and 50s. The more teams we fill the better our standing is in the world rankings.
What is the Funding for
The UK isn’t a cheap destination! Players are paying for their own flights, travel and spending money. They have been asked to each have at least $8k FJD (£2800) to represent Fiji which is a substantial amount to raise or save back home. Although the Fiji Government have provided some funding, it will mostly be used to pay for each team registration and administrative costs.
Kaiviti Exiles
The Kaiviti Exiles is an unofficial Touch Fijian Rugby Team consisting of a mixture of ex Fiji touch rugby reps as well as new interested players ranging from ages 12- 50 years old. They have been tirelessly fundraising and trying to organise admin behind the scenes to help the team coming from Fiji.
Although the Fiji Government have provided some funding, it will mostly be used to pay for each team registration and administrative costs.
This humble plea for your donation is to help cover any short fall from the funding for; accommodation, food and transport for their stay in the UK for the duration of the world cup. Any monetary donation will be highly appreciated.
