Our names are Nissa Roberts and Audrey Kunde. We are, respectively, a friend and the niece of Tracey (McLoughlin) Wright. We have received approval from Ronny to share the following information and we humbly and gratefully express thanks in advance for any donation you can make.

On the night of Monday February 24th a storm in Northwest Oregon caused high winds and rain. Tracey, her husband Ronny, and daughter Elie were together in their vehicle returning home from a weekend of celebrating Tracey's birthday, visiting their two sons at

college at campuses in Oregon, and touring colleges for Elie when the storm worsened. They were on Highway 26 less than 15 miles from home when a tree suddenly fell onto their SUV, gravely injuring Tracey.

Emergency response was delayed by almost an hour due to other road hazards (trees down) but when they reached the accident scene it was determined that Tracey needed to be taken to a Level 1 trauma center in Portland. Ronny and Elie were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries and were released and joined Tracey at her bedside in Portland the morning of Tuesday February 25th.

We now know that the injuries Tracey sustained in the accident include a fracture in her spine at C6. She reported no feeling from the chest down. Tracey was taken into surgery mid-afternoon on Tuesday with the hopes of fusing her spine and relieving pressure on the spinal cord itself. Unfortunately the surgeons found that the repairs they'd hoped for were not possible; this means that Tracey will remain paralyzed.

While the future is unknown, what we DO know is that it will be challenging. One immediate way that you can help is by donating (any amount) to this campaign. We hope to be able to raise funds to help cover the following costs:

Medical bills - they do have insurance but with a high out-of-pocket hurdle to pay up front. Some costs related to ongoing care or therapies may not be covered at all.
Travel and associated costs - there will be meals, gas, and lodging costs so that Ronny and other family can stay close to Tracey right now. The hospital is about 2 hours from their home.
Continuing bills - regular bills will continue to come in for housing, cars, utilities, tuition, insurance, etc. Providing Ronny some cushion so that he can stay with Tracey now will be invaluable. Both Ronny and Tracey worked full-time so losing both incomes is incredibly stressful.
Upcoming additional/unknown expenses - because there is no way to know the trajectory of healing and rehabilitation there will be expenses that weren't foreseen.

To know Tracey is to adore her... it's impossible not to see that she has an absolute heart of gold. She is one of the kindest people you will ever meet, is hilarious, helps anyone in need with a smile on her face, and has so very many family members, colleagues and friends who love her! She's spent decades of her life raising a family, nurturing a marriage, traveling as much as possible, and influencing countless kids in her work as an elementary teacher. Tracey is a wife, mother, daughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin, sorority sister, and dear dear friend to so many. She is incredibly special and she and her family need our support.
