Support Tracie's Journey to Carol Walker's Funeral

Dearest friends and family,

On October 1st, 2024, our family's dear matriarch, Carol "Bipla" Walker, took her final breath and peacefully passed away. The loss of such an incredible woman is a deep hole that can never be filled or replaced, and she has left behind a legacy that will be carried on within her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all the countless other lives that she touched through her friendship, extensive travels, mission work, peace and justice work, and education. Those that were privileged to know her can attest to the light she was in this world, always sharing her love, joy, and humor with those around her, supporting those less fortunate, and being the humble glue that deeply loved her family and kept us together.

When we got the news that Bipla was in her final days, I was fortunate to be able to have some time to speak to her and share what was on my heart. In true fashion, like the tough cookie she always has been, she held on for much longer than we all expected. In her final hour, as our family sat vigil with her, I had the privilege of speaking to her one last time to let her know that it was okay to let go and that we loved her. She passed shortly after.

In the midst of mourning, I have been making arrangements to travel from South Africa to Texas to be there for her funeral and celebrate her life with our loved ones. From the moment Bipla was diagnosed with dementia and later cancer, I have vowed that I would be there to celebrate her life. This is where your help comes in. Flight prices for last-minute travel are incredibly high, especially for travel to/from Africa. I am humbly asking for your help to raise money so that I can travel home to be with my loved ones and pay my respects to my beloved grandmother.
