Support Travis's Journey with ALS: Accessible Van Needed

Donation protected
On May 16, 2023, the love of my life, Travis, was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. There is no cure for ALS, and his life expectancy is 2-5 years. We have kept this illness to ourselves, sharing it with only a handful of people. We have relied on The Lord, family, and close friends for support in this ever-changing situation.

We are asking for prayers during this time while we are trying to maintain some sense of normality in our lives.

Travis has progressed to the point of relying on a wheelchair because all mobility has ceased in his legs, arms, and hands.

Our difficulty now is transportation for Travis. His much-needed power wheelchair should arrive next week. However, it is almost impossible to put him in a regular vehicle, regardless of size, because of his limited ability to move his legs and being in a wheelchair. We have to depend on family and friends to help us go to doctor appointments at Duke ALS Clinic as well as doctors locally.

We would like to purchase a handicap van so we can get Travis to all his appointments easier and it won’t be so hard on him. Plus, it will allow him and I to get outside and go places, see things, and enjoy the time we have left with each other. Being able to go see our girls and grandkids will be a welcomed gift.

It seems used handicapped vans are hard to find and new vans that are handicap accessible are very expensive. Most are in excess of 60,000 dollars.

If you would like to help us try to get a van for Travis, it will be greatly appreciated.
