Support Trevor's family

Update: The funds raised here are now going to a trust for Trevor’s children Julian and Rigel to ensure them a bright future when they grow up. Thank you all for your generosity, we literally would not have been able to keep our house without this support.

In the middle of the night on Wednesday morning, our friend and the world’s friend Trevor Engelbrektson was taken from us in a car crash in Arizona. He will be missed forever.

When he was killed, he was working in one of his many roles, managing a tour for the band Her’s. Their vehicle was hit head-on by a drunk driver following a concert in Phoenix, en route to California.

While they were still entwined, Trevor’s soul and body worked in so many ways and touched so many people. He was a father to two beautiful boys, Julian (four years old) and Rigel (one and a half years old). He was a committed and loving husband to Marvel Devitt. He was devoted to his family: his mom Liz, his dad Jay, his sister Anna and her husband Yomi and their children Leo and Yara, and his brothers Luke, Michael and Jesse. His list of friends is endless and deep. Deep in the way that we were all a family, really.

And then, holy cow, there was his role as a conduit of music. Trevor played bass and guitar in dozens of bands throughout his whole life. He worked as a sound tech in every club in the Twin Cities. He booked live music at bars. He ran a record label called Piñata Records. He managed tours, drove buses and vans, ran sound on the road, and made new friends everywhere he went. He loved music so deeply. He made it his mission to loudly and effectively champion every artist he loved, and he loved so many. Trevor’s heart was in every single thing he did, with justice, love, and inclusivity driving him.

Trevor knew first hand how precious life was. Early in his life, he was deeply impacted by the sudden passing of his step father, Dave Pederson. For as long as we knew him, Trevor always made a point of telling us he loved us often, of making each ordinary moment meaningful and of simply being there in our times of crisis and sorrow. We are sure he knew he was loved in return.

We are humbly asking for help for Trevor’s family as they find their way through this transition. Financial donations of any amount are greatly appreciated.
