On September 18, 2020, We received the heartbreaking news that Treyvon Breckenridge was involved in a tragic accident where he lost his life along with three other students.
My name is Coach Booker Guyton, the head coach for the Edison High Varsity Football team. I had honor of coaching Trey and witnessing his tremendous leadership. He was a wonderful young man who led his team to back to back championships. He was not only a star on the field or Basketball court but was loved in the classroom as well. Trey was like a son to me, and will go down as one of the best quarterbacks to come out of Edison High School. Trey was a Captain of our team and held that position with great pride knowing that he had a responsibility and mission to execute. Not only coaches feel this pain but teachers, students and the entire Stockton community are grieving the loss of our beloved Trey .
He was known for his beautiful smile and his huge outgoing personality that can always light up a room. He was caring and thoughtful when he knew something was going wrong, he stopped to make sure everyone around him was safe and okay. Trey loved sports since he was able to walk and hold a ball, He loved dancing, singing , rapping and was the type of kid who can take on any challenge and push himself to be the best he can be. Trey leaves behind both of his parents, his eight brothers and his only sister. Trey was the third oldest of his brothers and was excited about the future ahead of him. He was a courageous leader who believed in setting the example for his younger siblings.
In the last three months, Trey started his own business and was on his way to becoming an entrepreneur and a collegiate athlete. Trey mentioned in his last interview that It was his dream to leave his business to his brothers and sister as soon as he established himself.
Over the years of my coaching, I speak of the importance of family and contributing because it takes a village to raise a child. We stand together in time of need and are asking our entire community and village to come together with his family to help cover the costs of medical bills and continue to provide family support .100% of contributions will go directly to the family and was given permission to share. There is no amount that is too small and the family is forever grateful for all of the support that they are receiving in this time of sadness. His Family will be holding his Celebration of Life | Homegoing services on his birthday October 1, 2020.
Trey will forever be remembered and embedded in my heart, I am going to miss your leadership, your smile and the pounding of your chest saying, “ I got this coach” Love you Trey.
