For Those who do not know me, my name is Tonya and I have been blessed with the best (Trista) for over 30 years! Throughout all of these years I have watched Trista with complete admiration as she is always there for everyone in their time of need. If you think you have ever met a more selfless, giving and caring person…i challenge you!

As some of you may know, Trista was diagnosed with PVNS and has undergone multiple surgeries to remove the tumors in her right foot. She traveled to the Mayo Clinic and had consultations on May 25th and May 26th with an orthopedic surgeon and oncologist. After two days of testing and consults she was informed that surgical intervention to remove the tumors are no longer an option (due to the progression of her tumors that returned after each surgery). Essentially the tumors are growing rapidly and have invaded her foot as they wrap around the bones, ligaments and tendons. She learned of two options and was provided information to help make the best decision for herself and family. 1. Amputation 2. A trial medication with life threatening side effects and unavailable in Indiana. Trista took both options into consideration and has decided to follow through with the amputation as the side effects were too severe to consider with the medication.

Today, she met with the orthopedic surgeon in Indiana who agreed with the Mayo Clinic’s recommendation and scheduled her right leg below the knee amputation for July 10th. With this date being right around the corner, the stress of preparing her home to ensure it is handicap accessible has began to take a toll on her. Preparing for a life altering operation is overwhelming enough so I wanted to create this in hopes to remove the stress and burden preparing the house comes along with.

The front porch is in desperate need of new decking boards as well as the bathroom will not accommodate the assistive devices Trista will need to utilize for the rest of her life. Any donations received will be put towards the repairs/updates to her home as well as expenses incurred with hospital stays etc. as she will not being able to work as she recovers and participates in the therapy needed. Thoughts and prayers are beyond appreciated!

UPDATE: Thank you for all of the love, support and prayers! Because of you, a large portion of the deck has been repaired which will allow Trista safe entry into her home! We are still vigorously working in bathroom plans and pray supplies can be purchased so the required updates can be completed prior to her post surgery discharge! We can not thank you all enough! Please share!
