Support Tyrone Recover His Vision!

Hi there, my name is Nancy Treviño and I created this fundraiser for my dear friend Tyrone Brown. I've known Tyrone for over 10 years now and was introduced to him when I became a youth organizer at Power U Center for Social Change in Miami, Florida in 2011.

When I met Tyrone, he was a longstanding teenage youth leader with Power U which was founded in the historic neighborhood of Overtown. Tyrone, along with his family, became part of the founding community leaders who would serve their community and organization for over a decade.

A few months ago I received a phone call from Tyrone where he shared that his health had declined and that he sadly lost almost all of his vision. This transition has been difficult for Tyrone, but he is doing his best to keep his spirits up and trusting his doctors as he faces multiple eye surgeries with the hope of once again regaining his vision.

Through the years Tyrone grew to love photography and became an avid social movement photographer documenting the loving community of Miami and the work of several grassroots social justice organizations. Tyrone has deep roots in the social justice community of South Florida and over the years has also supported campaigns led by We Count!, Dream Defenders, United We Dream, Family Action Network Movement, and others. Tyrone has fought for racial justice, immigrant rights, advocated for restorative justice at Miami-Dade County Public Schools and was a consistent leader at Power U Center for Social Change during his formative years.

Tyrone has been keeping his chin up as he struggles through not just a huge life transition, but also a financial hardship as he is unable to perform his job due to his loss of vision. Tyrone is young and still full of life and as Tyrone navigates this life struggle, we ask for your support during this trying time.
