We Need Your Support

We will be taking 10 dance students from the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo to the American College Dance Association's (ACDA) Northwest Conference from March 6-9, 2024 held at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, with a pre-conference held at Westminster University in Salt Lake City, Utah. This is the first time UH Hilo has had the opportunity to become an institutional member of the ACDA and take part in an ACDA conference.

ACDA’s regional conferences provide an amazing opportunity for students and faculty to engage in four days of performances, workshops, panels, and master classes taught by instructors from around the region and country. The conferences are the primary means for college and university dance programs to perform outside their own academic setting and to gain exposure to the diversity of college dance throughout the United States.

This year’s ACDA Northwest Conference Collaboration: Moving Together will include a dynamic collaboration with Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company; Utah’s most established institution for contemporary dance. Two of our dance students will be involved with a new work choreographed by Ririe-Woodbury’s Artistic Director Daniel Charon set to premiere at the End of Conference Concert.

Where Your Assistance Will Go

$2,035.00 will be used for conference fees for 10 students and 1 faculty member.
$5,048.00 will be used for flights from Hawaii for 9 students and 1 faculty member (1 student will be traveling from Idaho.)
$600.00+ will be used for a van rental for daily transportation between Salt Lake City and Ogden, Utah.
$125.00 will cover gas for the van.

**Additional funds raised beyond our goal will be used for accommodation and meals. A portion of our group will be staying with our friends in Salt Lake City with the remaining sharing a nearby Airbnb.

We appreciate any and all of your assistance as it can be quite costly for college students attending an event like this outside of Hawaiʻi.

This will be a great educational and networking experience for our dance students as guest artists and dance workshops are limited here on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi.
