My name is Yaroslava Timoshenko. I was born in Kyiv. Ukraine is my Motherland and having lived in Canada for close to 30 years has done nothing to change that. In fact, because I had left Ukraine at a young age, I remember my time there in the most positive light, and every opportunity I had going back to visit family was a time for admiring something I was too young to appreciate when I lived there.
When I was still living in Kyiv, I had fallen critically ill and was hospitalized in the National Children’s Specialized Hospital “Ohmatdyt” in Kyiv. The doctors at Ohmatdyt saved my life. Today, with what's happening in Ukraine, Ohmatdyt, the largest children’s hospital and hematology/oncology clinic in Ukraine urgently needs our help.
While the young patients in critical condition have been evacuated from the hospital, surgeons and doctors are working around the clock as the conflict worsens in the suburbs of Kyiv. Currently, the hospital is functioning as a triage and trauma centre for patients of all ages injured directly by the fighting.
Every bit of these donations will go towards helping this hospital continue to save lives in spite of this war. They will be providing medicines, consumables, and fluids necessary for laboratory work; for providing necessities for maintaining sanitary and hygienic conditions and practices; for procuring nutrition for hospital staff and patients; for the upkeep of the hospital facilities when it is safe to do so.
You can visit the hospital's website here: https://ohmatdyt.com.ua/
