Hello / Namaste, my name is Uma Rani, and I’m reaching out for help during the toughest time of my life. I came to the United States from Hyderabad, India, to pursue my master’s degree, and I recently graduated. However, for the past six months, I have been suffering from severe stomach pain and gastric issues. As a student, I am barely managing my living expenses in New Jersey.

Unfortunately, my condition worsened rapidly. I started experiencing uncontrollable diarrhea, sometimes 15-20 times a day. My weight dropped from 110 lbs to just 82 lbs. I became so weak that I could no longer manage daily activities on my own. That’s when my friend rushed me to the emergency room, where I was finally diagnosed with Crohn’s disease—a chronic illness that requires lifelong treatment.

Doctors have prescribed temporary medications to address certain symptoms, but to truly stabilize my condition, I need infusion treatments, which are extremely expensive. The prescribed Skyrizi infusion treatment (manufactured by AbbVie Inc.) costs between $10,000 to $15,000 per infusion, and my student health insurance policy does not cover it. Without this treatment plan, my health will continue to deteriorate, and recovery would be near impossible.

I never imagined I would be in a situation where I’d have to ask for help, but I have no other option. The medical costs are overwhelming, and I need your support to pay for my medical expenses and regain my health.
