Support Upper Prov Redistricting Battle!

Hello. My name is Kathy and I am a part of a bipartisan group of citizens that have filed a petition with the Court of Common Pleas to contest the redistricting of Upper Providence ahead of the 2023 Council elections.
The summary is this: following the results of the 2020 Census, Upper Providence Council needed to move only ~300 voters to rebalance the population of the Township's 5 voting districts, but instead they passed an ordinance to move over 2000 voters in an attempt to gerrymander UPT into control of the incumbent party ahead of the 2023 Township Council elections. Council plainly ignored the feedback and petitions of almost 500 bipartisan residents and, rather than entering into good faith discussion with petitioners, they attempted to have the lawsuit filed by their own citizens thrown out. Luckily, a judge dismissed that motion and the matter proceeded to trial in May 2023. UP RESIDENTS WON this court case and the Judge remanded the gerrymandered map back to the Township.
The Township appealed the judge's ruling in late 2023 and now has UP Citizens tied up in more legal action in the PA Commonwealth Court! We are scheduled for a hearing on that matter in November 2024!
That’s where we need your help. Lawsuits are expensive, and while the Township is using our tax dollars to wage a lawsuit against its own taxpayers, the group of petitioners needs to raise funds to support the legal battle. We have incurred more than $25K in legal fees to date and anticipate another $10K for our fight in Harrisburg! We have been doing fundraisers in person and asking people to help, but we are still far under water with legal fees.
Please donate what you can to help us fund this battle – every single cent donated will go to legal fees, and we won’t raise any funds beyond what are needed to cover the costs.
Thank you!
