REAL FOOD AND HYGIENE PRODUCTS NOW! SOLIDARITY WITH PEOPLE IN URBAN HOUSE ASYLUM HOSTEL, WAKEFIELD
Support our campaign's emergency food and toiletries deliveries to Urban House.
We are distributing food and hygiene packs every two weeks to everyone in Urban House. Support our emergency distributions. With your help and support we are aiming to go there every week.
270 people are forced to live in poor, unsanitary conditions in Urban House hostel, Wakefield.
People have been placed there by the UK Home Office and the Mears Group manages the property as part of their their £1.15 billion contracts for asylum housing.
Residents are forced to share rooms with strangers, forced to share dirty toilets and showers, even during the COVID-19 lock-down. Many people have illnesses making them at risk of catching the virus.
Pregnant women are still in Urban House, there is no special food and little fresh fruit for them. 15 children: 4 toddlers, 4 children under ten, and young teenagers live there. Toddlers are given spicy food – no special food for children. No toast or cereals for breakfast.

-NO ONE HAS ANY MONEY IN URBAN HOUSE
-IN COVID-19 LOCK-DOWN, URBAN HOUSE HAS SHARED DIRTY TOILETS AND BROKEN SHOWERS.
-PEOPLE HAVE NO TOILETRIES. MOST OF THE TIME THERE IS NO SOAP OR SHOWER GEL IN THE BATHROOMS. SOMETIMES NO TOILETS AT ALL (APRIL 18th)
-SOME PEOPLE HAVE BEEN IN URBAN HOUSE FOR FOUR MONTHS THEY SHOULD ONLY BE THERE FOR THREE TO FOUR WEEKS ON THEIR WAY TO ASYLUM HOUSING TO WAIT FOR THE OUTCOME OF THEIR ASYLUM CLAIMS.
-THERE WAS A SUSPECTED CASE OF COVID-19 IN URBAN HOUSE ON MARCH 22ND. IT WAS NOT REPORTED TO THE NHS. THE PERSON WAS NEVER TESTED SIMPLY SENT TO AN ISOLATION HOUSE FOR 14 DAYS WITHOUT SUPPORT. THEY WERE NOT TESTED AT THE END OF ISOLATION.
-EVERY DAY PEOPLE ARE AT RISK.
