To our hockey family near and far!

If you are a hockey parent like I am, you know. You know the dedication the sport requires under the best conditions. If you are a hockey fan, you know. You have heard about early morning or late night "ice time." Imagine that commitment on top of a full collegiate course schedule. Now imagine it without home ice!

We need your help to ensure the University of Rhode Island Men's Hockey Team gets back on the ice and builds the team unity they deserve. The Boss Arena, our beloved home ice rink, is in critical need of repairs, leaving our team with no choice but to travel long distances for practices, incurring additional expenses and disrupting our players' academic and personal lives. The earliest possible reopen date of the Boss Ice Rink is November 6 which means that our players will be driving and carpooling to practices wherever they can find ice time - and they will play at least six home games somewhere other than the Boss Ice Rink on the URI Kingston campus.

About Our Cause:

The URI Men's Hockey Team is dedicated to excellence both on and off the ice. However, as you may have seen in the local news , the current state of our home ice rink has made it incredibly challenging for our athletes to maintain their training regimen and keep their focus on their studies. The financial burden and time spent traveling to distant rinks have already taken a toll on our team.

In addition to support with travel and meals on the road, we aim to raise funds to host a team building activity, fostering the bond and camaraderie that's been missing due to the inability to gather in our home locker room. If you are a player, you know. A strong sense of unity is vital for our team's success, and this activity will help reignite that spirit of togetherness.

How Will Your Contribution Help?

Hosting a Team Building Activity: No home ice means no home locker room bonding. We will organize a special team bonding event, providing the players with an opportunity to connect, share experiences, and build the unity necessary for a successful season.

Offsetting Travel Expenses: Donations will also help cover the additional costs associated with traveling to distant rinks for practices, enabling our players to focus more on their academic pursuits and maintain a healthy work-life balance. This includes the cost of bussing the players together to out-of-town home games.

Finally, any additional funds will support the sustainability of URI Hockey.
