Support UTA Heroes After a Tragic Hit-and-Run
Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 1:30 a.m., an unimaginable tragedy struck our UTA family, affecting several employees. While performing the critical work that keeps our transit system running smoothly, two of our best MOW Rail Maintenance Workers were struck by an SUV travelling at high speed. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene on foot, leaving them on the ground and fighting for their lives at the 5900 S, and 350 W Frontrunner railroad crossing. Two additional crew members who witnessed this horrific event heroically rushed to their aid, contacting our Dispatch center, giving first aid, and supporting the injured until emergency services arrived.
One worker suffered life-altering injuries, including severe fractures, internal trauma, and the loss of a limb, requiring immediate and extensive surgery. The other sustained multiple fractures and head injuries, putting both in critical care.
As of 4/27 one remains hospitalized, facing additional surgeries, while the other was released on 4/26 to begin the long road to recovery.
Why These Two Families Need Our Help
Their path to healing will be long. The financial burden suddenly forced on these families by the irresponsible and uninsured motorist will be overwhelming. Their mounting medical expenses and rehabilitation costs need the help of their larger family, their UTA Family. Again, these are two of our best! These dedicated UTA employees, who risk their well-being nightly to ensure public and rider safety, now need our support more than ever. 100% of every donation will go to these two individuals, helping ease the financial demands of their extensive recovery.
Stand With Us
Please join us in supporting these diligent workers as they face the most challenging time of their lives. Each contribution makes a difference on the road to recovery.
Your generosity will help alleviate these financial burdens and serve as a powerful statement on the meaning of UTA Family.
Thank you for your kindness.
