Support Vahombey in finishing the library

Donation protected

We only have one week to make a difference. I need you to be part of it. Please read along, we need your support.

My name is Jullian Androkae (UWCCSC'19 - Bennington College '23), founder of Vahombey Project, an initiative that is building a library in my dad's home village back in Madagascar.

I got a $10,000 grant to make it happen, and the project is now well underway, with a dozen volunteers now in my hometown getting ready to leave for the village tomorrow.

It's getting really real, we're set to have our Grand Opening on August 4th, 2021, and despite the fact that I'm stuck in the US and can't be with our 25 people strong team (thanks Covid) we somehow managed to pull it off.

That grant has made it all possible, however building a whole library is no small feat. Between acquiring all the material, rehabilitating a building, travel, and accommodation for this many people, and management costs there have definitely been unexpected obstacles, which is why I'm writing to you here.

Our budget team thinks we're going to stretch our budget thin to make it work, cutting corners and making sacrifices. And see it through we will, and I hope this "we" includes you as well.

We evaluated that raising $500 in the next 3 days would largely help unblock the situation, and that's what I set out to do. Our main unforeseen issue is the scarcity of transportation to the village because it's so isolated. We were expecting to get our bookshelves, furniture, books, etc to the village for $100 but the current option costs over $500 dollars.

Your donation, of $100 or $10, will largely impact how this library will turn out. Our team is really dedicated and has done its best with the resources we have. This additional $500 will make an important difference, especially this close to the library opening.

Please consider donating using the link below, knowing your donation will go directly towards helping students in the village of Bekitro in the next week. And if you can't donate at the moment, please extend this message's reach by taking 5 minutes to share it to your own network.

Building a project of this size at 22 has taught me that when people can get around the same vision, very little will stop them. I hope reading this message and checking our page gave you an idea of why we're so passionate and how needed your support is. Thank you in advance for the essential support you're giving us!
