Support Vanessa's Battle Against AML

Hi everyone, my name is Valerie.

This is a GoFundMe I’m setting up for my twin sister, Vanessa. She was recently diagnosed with AML (acute myeloid leukemia), and I have set this up in hopes that any friends or family can help her out during this transitional period so that Vanessa can focus on healing and not her external stressors/life expenses. She is currently being treated by chemotherapy inpatient at Cedars if anybody would like to visit her. As you all know, this is going to deteriorate her overall health temporarily; for how long, we are not sure.

A little backstory behind how this happened from Vanessa: On March 16th, I checked into the emergency room for a swollen lymph node on my neck. The pain was unbearable, and I was unable to eat or drink anything because of the swelling in my neck. The doctors ran multiple tests and gave me antibiotics for tonsillitis. I went home thinking everything would go back to normal. Two days later, I received a call that my test came back, and they found concerning results in my blood tests. They asked me to come back to do more tests, one of those being a bone marrow draw to confirm the diagnosis. The doctors unfortunately confirmed once again that it was AML, and I needed treatment ASAP. What started as what I thought would be a very quick doctor's visit turned into me staying in this hospital for the last week and getting the ball rolling on treatment. The doctors are saying I will be here for the next few weeks, upwards to a month or so. I am asking kindly for any donations to help me focus on treatment and getting better so I can get back to normal day-to-day life with everyone. This is all new to me, and I’m learning more about it along the way. Like anyone else, I was initially scared, but I know that the body really listens to everything you feed it, and that includes spiritually. So please, if you can, just pray for me and put it out in the universe that I will overcome this, and it will just be part of my healing journey.
