Hello, my name is Katie. We are starting this GoFundMe for my mother who, unfortunately, is passing away. Velena Taylor is an amazing woman who has lived a life of struggles and tribulations, yet it never got her down. Velena was born with chronic crippling joint disease and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis which caused her to use crutches all of her life. At a young age, she had already been through braces to straighten her legs, surgery to try and correct the deformity, and medications to provide relief from this pain, all at the age of 3. This has never stopped her from accomplishing what she has set her mind to. Anything she was told she could not do, she did and more. She had 2 children, put herself through college all while raising 2 girls by herself. She learned how to drive, she did not let her disability stop her. My sister Amanda and I are in need of assistance, we come to GoFundMe to help us with burial assistance for our mom. Our mom is a wonderful woman who did everything for us girls despite her disability. She defied all odds and did what she could to raise us with morals, respect, and ambitions. We have taken what she has instilled in us, her determination and resilience, and put it in our everyday lives. Our mom deserves the very best for all she has done for us. We would love to give her a burial that she deserves, and one we can be proud of. Losing our mom is the hardest thing we will ever go through. We were not prepared for her decline, and as quickly as it is coming.
