Dear Friends and RTP Community Members,

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of our beloved Chef Velmurugan Mailai Subramaniam on 22nd June 2024. He was only 56 years old.For 13 years, he brought joy to our community through his culinary talents, first as an esteemed chef at Udupi and later at Sangam. His dishes were more than just food; they were an expression of his love, dedication, and passion for bringing people together.

Chef Velmurugan Mailai Subramaniam leaves behind a grieving wife and three children in Chennai. His family is now facing significant financial challenges, including the costs associated with repatriating his body back to Chennai, as well as ensuring the education of his children. His eldest son is completing his college education and second daughter is awaiting for her admission to engineering college while the youngest is in high school back in Chennai.Chef Velmurugan Mailai Subramaniam was not only a master in the kitchen but also a devoted husband and father who dreamt of providing the best future for his kids.

We are reaching out to you, our extended community, to help support his family during this incredibly difficult time. The funds raised will go towards the repatriation costs and directly towards the education of his children, ensuring they have the opportunities their father worked so hard to provide.

Just a day before his passing, Chef had returned from Chennai after visiting his family. He made a special effort to meet with friends from the local restaurants nearby. It felt as though he was giving everyone a final farewell, as he sadly collapsed the very next day.

Any contribution, big or small, will make a significant difference in the lives of his family. Let us come together to honor Chef Velmurugan Mailai Subramaniam's memory and continue his legacy of generosity and care.
