Support Vernon's Journey to Top Surgery

Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,
I hope this message finds you well. I'm starting this to ask for your support in an important journey - one that will allow me to live more freely and authentically. As a disabled veteran and a public health social worker, I have dedicated my life to serving others, but now I find myself in need of help. Since I am a disabled veteran, all of my health coverage comes from the VA. I do not have private insurance because of this fact. I have attempted to apply for private insurance through the marketplace for my surgery, but was denied.
I am raising funds for top surgery, a procedure that will greatly improve my quality of life, both physically and mentally. This surgery is not just about appearance - it's about alleviating gender dysphoria, reducing daily discomfort, and improving my overall well-being. Unfortunately, despite my service, the costs associated with the procedure, including surgery, travel, recovery expenses, and loss of wages from time off work due to not enough paid time off during healing, are beyond my financial reach.
I cannot reschedule my surgery; wait times, the threats from our current administration, and continued strain on my mental health make this a matter I can no longer ignore.
Your generosity - whether big or small - will make a world of difference. Every dollar brings me closer to living a life that aligns with who I truly am. If you are unable to contribute financially, sharing this campaign with your network would mean just as much.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any support you can offer. Your kindness and generosity will help me take this next step toward a healthier, happier future for me and for my loved ones around me.
With gratitude,
Vernon
