Support Veronica and Marisa's New Mexico Fire Recovery

My name is Lisa Rockacy and I live in the Indianapolis area. My dear friend and co-worker, Veronica, and her wife Marisa Mapp, recently moved to Ruidoso, NM. On June 17th the South Fork fire forced them to evacuate their home with just minutes to grab essentials and seek safety. After being relocated in another area of Ruidoso and away from immediate threat, the entire town was evacuated. As of now, it's reported that over 1400 structures in the area have burned and almost 16,000 acres of land.

Veronica and Marisa, and their recently-adopted senior rescue pup, Lucy, are in a hotel in Roswell, as they continue to await news and more information about the status of the home they bought just 2 months ago. Storms and flash flooding have created a challenge for emergency responders attempting to get the fire under control, contributing to the uncertainty of how long it will be before they can get in to survey damage and identify their next steps.

With the immediate need of hotel expenses, restaurant meals, replacing everyday essentials and clothes, medication, etc…and future need of temporary housing, clean-up and other expenses they’ll determine when they are able to get back to see their home, the financial need is great.

Veronica and Marisa have made lives of giving generously to those around them with a love of service to people and animals. I am creating this fundraiser, on their behalf, to make it easy to return a little bit of the goodness that they put out into the world, back to them; ease their financial burden, and provide them with some hope in the coming weeks and months as they move forward with the community and neighbors they have come to love in a short time.
