URGENT: Support Vero's Journey to Accessibility and Hope!

Imagine a woman so incredibly beautiful and intelligent that she could choose any life path she wanted. That's Vero. But instead of using her intelligence and appearance for vanity or material wealth, Vero dedicated her life to the pursuit of the heart - to learning how to love magnificently and then giving that love away freely to everyone around her.

We first met in her homeland of Costa Rica, on the Caribbean side, where she was the translator (and a very good one!) for an indigenous tribe's ceremony.

She had just returned from the capital where she had spent the last year caring for her dying mother.

Still deeply grieving, Vero spent her days volunteering at a horse shelter and teaching free emotional intelligence classes to local children. At night she would quietly step outside to call her father. He had just lost his wife and best friend of 40 years, and Vero made sure he felt love from someone every single day.

What an exceptional human!

She was unsure about how to kickstart her career, but she knew that if she lived from her heart and gave fiercely, life would provide.

And provide it did. After nearly two years, she had nourished her tired body back to health and refilled her enormous heart to the brim. She relaunched her successful design and brand marketing business and allowed herself to hope once again for the simple life of her dreams: she would have a family, grow a beautiful garden, maybe even write some children's books and courses.

But then tragedy struck. During a photo shoot for a client, a massive palm tree fell on Vero. It badly damaged her medulla and crushed her C5 and C6 vertebrae. She immediately lost all sensation below the neck.

Those of us who love her are devastated. We are forever changed.

Thankfully, two months later Vero has survived spinal surgery and is in a rehabilitation center in San Jose. She is working incredibly hard and has already regained some sensation in her arms. She counts her blessings daily and is in better spirits than all of us.

But the costs of her care are too much to comprehend. Grueling rehabilitation. Renovations to her family home. A medical bed. A specialized wheel chair. In-home nurse care. The list goes on and on.

Her family are wonderful and are taking exceptional care of her. We, her friends who love her like our own family, have organized this fundraiser to help with these costs.

Most of you who read this will never meet Vero and fall in love with her spirit the way we have. But believe us when we say that she is among the best of us.

Vero is the kind of love leader you find in books and songs - and so rarely in real life. Hers is the kind of devotional love that is only possible when someone spends their whole life close to nature, gently teasing love lessons from every leaf and petal.

She is a human treasure and in spite of this tragedy, she is determined to fulfill her life path. But first, in this dire time of need, she needs our help.

Imagínese una mujer tan increíblemente bella e inteligente que podría elegir cualquier camino de vida que quisiera. Esa es Vero. Pero en lugar de usar su inteligencia y apariencia para la vanidad o la riqueza material, Vero dedicó su vida a la búsqueda del corazón: a aprender a amar magníficamente y luego regalar ese amor libremente a todos los que la rodean.

Nos conocimos por primera vez en su tierra natal, Costa Rica, en el lado caribeño, donde ella era la traductora (¡y muy buena!) de una ceremonia de una tribu indígena.

Acababa de regresar de la capital donde pasó el último año cuidando a su madre moribunda. Aún profundamente afligida, Vero pasó sus días como voluntaria en un refugio para caballos y dando clases gratuitas de inteligencia emocional a niños locales. Por la noche salía silenciosamente para llamar a su padre. Acababa de perder a su esposa y su mejor amigo durante 40 años, y Vero se aseguraba de que él sintiera el amor de alguien todos los días.

¡Qué hija y ser humano tan excepcional!

No estaba segura de cómo impulsar su carrera, pero sabía que si vivía desde el corazón y daba con fervor, la vida se lo proporcionaría.

Y siempre que así fuera. Después de casi dos años, había recuperado la salud de su cuerpo cansado y había llenado su enorme corazón hasta el borde. Relanzó su exitoso negocio de diseño y marketing de marca y se permitió volver a tener esperanzas en la vida sencilla de sus sueños: tendría una familia, cultivaría un hermoso jardín y tal vez incluso escribiría algunos libros y cursos para niños.

Pero entonces sobrevino la tragedia. Durante una sesión de fotos para un cliente, una enorme palmera cayó sobre Vero. Dañó gravemente su médula y aplastó sus vértebras C5 y C6. Inmediatamente perdió toda sensación debajo del cuello.

Quienes la amamos estamos devastados. Hemos cambiado para siempre.

Afortunadamente, dos meses después Vero sobrevivió a una cirugía de columna y se encuentra en un centro de rehabilitación en San José. Está trabajando increíblemente duro y ya ha recuperado algo de sensación en sus brazos. Ella cuenta sus bendiciones diariamente y está de mejor humor que todos nosotros.

Pero los costos de su atención son demasiado altos para comprenderlos. Rehabilitación agotadora. Renovaciones en la casa de su familia. Una cama médica. Una silla de ruedas especializada. Atención de enfermería a domicilio. La lista sigue y sigue.

Su familia es maravillosa y la están cuidando excepcionalmente. Nosotros, sus amigos que la queremos como a nuestra propia familia, hemos organizado esta recaudación de fondos para ayudar con estos gastos enormes.

La mayoría de ustedes que lean esto nunca conocerán a Vero y se enamorarán de su espíritu como lo hemos hecho nosotros. Pero créanos cuando decimos que ella está entre las mejores de nosotros.

Vero es el tipo de líder amorosa que encuentras en libros y canciones, y muy raramente en la vida real. El suyo es el tipo de amor devocional que sólo es posible cuando alguien pasa toda su vida cerca de la naturaleza, extrayendo suavemente lecciones de amor de cada hoja y pétalo.
