Support Vicky's Fight Against Leukemia

Donation protected
Dear Friends & Family,

On Tuesday November 19th after 6 weeks of illness, emergency rooms visits, and a surgery Vicky was diagnosed with leukemia. Her doctor called late Tuesday evening and told her to head to Brigham and Women’s in Boston immediately to start treatment. Within the first 24 hours of being admitted Vicky was given platelet infusions, had a bone marrow biopsy, and had a PICC line placed in her arm. She was told she would need to stay in the hospital for at least a month and within 72 hours she started her chemotherapy treatments. Once she is discharged she will continue to receive chemotherapy at an outpatient clinic closer to home for about 8 months.

Vicky has a beautiful family that includes her husband Alex, her two amazing daughters, Lyra (15) and Rylin (11), and their 3 very spoiled cats. Vicky is a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend with an incredible sense of humor, a love of music, and a passion for being a great mom.

Vicky and Alex have been part of the Mendon-Upton community since they were children and have also chosen to raise their girls in this quiet town. Vicky has been active in the MUEF PTO for 8 years and has been the president for the last 4 years. She has raised tens of thousands of dollars to support the schools and children of Upton-Mendon and now it’s our turn to support her and her family.

Vicky cannot work while going through treatment and does not know when she will be well enough to return. She is hoping to get medical leave support from the state but even if this is approved it will only be about 60% of her pay. Alex will also be taking family medical leave on and off as needed to support Vicky and their children which will impact his pay, as well.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the area, Upton is about an hour drive from Boston which is a ride Alex and the girls will be taking multiple times a week to visit her; a ride that will include tolls, parking, and meals on the go.

Vicky is hopeful that she will make it home for Christmas with her family. The Wilkinson family would greatly appreciate any financial donations to help offset any medical expenses, time off from work, transportation, and other costs they may incur so that the full focus can be on Vicky’s recovery. Any contribution would make a world of difference to them during this difficult time.

On behalf of the Wilkinson family, they would like to thank each person who has reached out, said a prayer, dropped off a meal or groceries, offered to help with the girls and everything in between.
