My name is Laraine and I’m creating this fundraiser on behalf of my father, James Buchanan.
In March 2024, he purchased a home in Manchester, Georgia in order to be closer to me and his grandsons. He loved his new home, his new town, and his new surroundings.
On July 9, 2024, wind blew his neighbor’s large tree onto his house, and the house crumbled over his head. He was sitting in his chair and narrowly missed being hit. He was able to get out safely, but his home and his vehicle are both a complete loss. He purchased this home in cash with his life savings. He is a Vietnam Veteran and a retired painting contractor, and lives on his social security and veterans disability income. He had not yet purchased homeowners insurance, and the neighbor’s homeowner’s insurance whose tree fell on his home is stating they will not cover an “Act of God.”
Within minutes, he lost both his home and his vehicle. Both are a complete loss.
I’m humbly asking for any help from friends and family to help ease his burden. We’re uncertain what the future looks like, but he will absolutely need a place to live and a vehicle. His hope is to repair this house to continue to build memories in. No donation is too small. Any shares, prayers, and donations are so greatly appreciated.
Funds will be used to purchase a used vehicle and if enough is raised, to help him fix and rebuild his home.
